Privacy Policy

Vedak ("Vedak", "we", "us") operates a local work marketplace in Sri Lanka that connects customers who need work done with local workers who bid on that work. This policy explains what personal data we collect through the Vedak app and website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

We collect information you give us directly, and information created by using the service:

• Account information: name and email address. We don't use passwords — you sign in with a one-time link sent to your email, or with your Google account.
• Profile information: profile photo, city/district, phone number, WhatsApp number, bio, skills, languages, and years of experience — for workers who complete their profile.
• Activity data: jobs you post (title, description, budget, location, photos), bids you submit, messages attached to bids, reviews and ratings you leave or receive, and your credit balance and transaction history.
• Device preferences: your selected language and light/dark theme, stored locally in your browser (not sent to us).

We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts, and we do not sell your data.

• To create and secure your account, and let you sign in.
• To operate the marketplace — showing your job posts, bids, and public worker profile to other users.
• To calculate and track your credit balance and process credit recharges.
• To show ratings and reviews so customers and workers can trust who they're dealing with.
• To respond to support requests and enforce our Terms & Conditions, including reviewing reports of abuse.

Vedak is a marketplace, so some information is public by design, similar to sites like Upwork or Fiverr: worker profiles (name, photo, city, skills, rating, review count) and job listings (title, description, budget, location, photos) can be viewed by anyone, including people who aren't signed in. Your email, phone number, and WhatsApp number are never shown publicly — they're only revealed to the other party after a worker is hired for a specific job.

Vedak is built on a small number of infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf:

• Firebase (Google): handles sign-in and stores your account, profile, job, bid, and review data.
• Cloudinary: stores and resizes profile photos and job photos you upload.
• Netlify: hosts the Vedak website.

We don't share your personal data with any other third party, and we never sell it.

Vedak does not process payments between customers and workers — you pay the worker directly once a job is complete, the same way you'd pay someone you hired in person. Credit recharges (used to submit bids) are settled by office payment or bank deposit and reviewed by our team; we don't store card numbers or bank credentials.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Data Deletion page. When you do, we remove your personal details (name, contact info, photo, bio) immediately; a record of jobs, bids, and reviews you were involved in may remain visible to other users with your identity replaced by "Deleted User", so that job and review history for other people isn't broken — the same approach most marketplaces and forums use for removed accounts.

• Access: view everything tied to your account from your Profile page.
• Correction: edit your profile, bio, contact details, and photo at any time.
• Deletion: delete your account and personal data from the Data Deletion page.

Vedak is intended for users 18 and older, consistent with our Terms & Conditions.

We may update this policy as Vedak evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
